Daniel’s Pinwheels

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. One of my longtime regular customers turned friend, Cassie Scrivner, reached out about creating something to honor her late son, Daniel. I said yes, of course. The following day Daniel’s mom reached out & asked how I felt about raising money with these whimsical pinwheels to help spread awareness, and I was relieved. After she shared her sweet son’s tragic passing with me, I couldn’t stop thinking about how I could approach asking her to raise money & donate it in his honor.

Daniel passed away in December 2019, at the age of 15 months, as a result of Abusive Head Trauma (also know as Shaken Baby Syndrome). Every 81 minutes, a child is abused or neglected in the state of Virginia. Daniel became one of those children on February 21, 2019 while he was in the care of his babysitter.

These pinwheels, Daniel’s Pinwheels, will be available indefinitely on my website. The blue pinwheels are a symbol of Child Abuse Prevention. You can purchase a pair of studs, a spinning pair of dangles, a pin or a magnet for your fridge. 50% of the sales of each piece in this collection will be donated to CHKD’s Child Advocacy Center in Daniel’s memory.
