Not Ur Abuela's Platos (2025)
If you don't know the meaning of the word, please look it up.
This piece was created because it brings me joy. There's something really fun to be about seeing these beautiful, fun blue flowers on a white background that remind me of my Puerto Rican Grandmother's plates I have loved & admired as a kid. Yes, plates inspired this! They have also inspired earrings I have created in the past as well. The word, though offensive, looks beautiful on the background. Even if you do not speak Spanish, there's a high likelihood you know what pendejo means. Because what do you mean you've never had a Spanish speaking friend who taught you the important Spanish words? What do you mean you've never worked in a restaurant and the Hondurans in the back of the house didn't teach you fun phrases while you were stressed running food from the back to the front while they just cooked & salsa'd in the kitchen?
